Certificate Policy
When a certificate is issued, how to verify it, how it may be displayed and when it can be withdrawn.
When a certificate is issued
A certificate is issued when an evaluation is approved, the score is at least 7.50 out of 10 and all mandatory checks pass. It shows the journal, its ISSN, the score, the methodology version, the issue date, the expiry date, a unique certificate number and a QR code.
Verification
Every certificate can be checked at citeveriq.com/verify. The verification page is the authoritative record: if a printed or digital copy differs from it, the verification page is correct. A certificate that cannot be found there was not issued by Citeveriq.
Validity
Certificates are valid for 12 months from the issue date. Publishers can request re-evaluation before expiry. After expiry, the verification page shows the certificate as expired.
Displaying a certificate
You may show the certificate or its number on your journal website, preferably linked to its verification page. You must not alter the certificate, display it after it has expired, been suspended or revoked, or describe it as an impact factor, indexing or accreditation.
Suspension and revocation
We may suspend or revoke a certificate if: the journal’s practices change materially; information given to us was false; the journal misrepresents the certificate; or serious ethics concerns are confirmed. The verification page then shows the current status and, where appropriate, the reason.
